To be a marine biologist. This is my childhood dream. Wanna know why? It’s because I was so in love with the ocean and everything that lives under the sea. I always dreamed of swimming with different kinds of fishes and sea creatures, singing and dancing with them just like Ariel in The Little Mermaid. I wondered what it’s like to live in the waters. I wondered how it actually looked like down there. I wondered how it feels to swim with these creatures. All these were in my head when I was still young and free!
But as I grew up, I realized that it’s hard to be a marine biologist if you are not born with a golden spoon on your mouth. So I just promised myself that one day, I will discover what lies beneath the surface of our oceans.
Thanks to the person who invented scuba diving for I was finally able to fulfill my dream.
According to BookYourDive.Com, “SCUBA is an abbreviation for Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus, an equipment to allow us to breathe underwater.”
So basically, “scuba is a form of underwater diving where a breathing apparatus is needed by the diver to be able to breathe underwater.”
Here are the basic gears and equipment for scuba diving:
- Mask – used to be able to see clearly underwater.

2. Fins – a diver’s aid for underwater movements.

3. Scuba gear or the Buoyancy Control Device (BCD) – a diving vest for buoyancy and is one of the major underwater life support.
4. Regulator/Octopus and Pressure Gauge –Β delivers the air from your scuba tank to you; the hub of your dive equipment, and links many pieces of gear β your scuba tank to your BCD, submersible pressure gauge(SPG), alternate air source and you (https://www.padi.com).
5. Air Tank – compressed air used for breathing underwater.

6. Weight Belt – used to counteract buoyancy.

Briefing and discussion. The dive master taught us how the gears and other apparatuses are being used. Aside from this sit-in lecture, we also had an actual training by the shore to test everything that he discussed. I forgot to ask his name tho. Hehe.
After the briefing, we wore our scuba outfits (leggings and rash guards for beginners) and went directly to the boat.

Here are some photos during our scuba diving session (no videos coz I look really awkward while diving, hihi).

I never thought that scuba diving was such a spectacular experience! Will definitely go diving again soon (ipon muna ulit :P).
So make sure to include scuba on your bucket list! It’s so worth it!
